Thom Yorke, Charles Darwin, and Pablo Picasso are among those who have spoken of creation and destruction as a single interconnected act. Likewise, we describe the vicious and grotesque violence of birth, death by natural selection, and eventual decay with virtuous and beautiful stories of creation, growth, and divine rebirth. Human progress and cooperation reduces our own loss and suffering and ushers in astounding new eras, but we do this while devouring and destroying the planet and uncountable other species.
Through a process of curated accidents and celebrated imperfections, this series investigates the interplay of virtuous and vicious cycles and our productive yet destructive nature through beautifully misshapen portraiture, twisted figuration, and surreal landscapes writhing in colorful figural forms.
