JAN JANSEN SHOE TREASURES
A group of artists from around the world was asked to honor the work of revered footwear designer Jan Jansen for a show in Amsterdam. Ray's entry focused on the baroque elements of Jansen's work as a starting point for a new approach to a darker side of embellishment.
HELLO KITTY 40TH ANNIVERSARY
Ray was one of the artists selected to participate in Sanrio's 40th Anniversary Art Exhibition. For his piece he broke Hello Kitty down to her basic elements and re-arranged them algorithmically, and finally realized the piece in graphic tape and clear file folders
NANJO HOUSE MATSURI IN BIGAKKO
A group art show curated by Fumitoshi Nanjo inside "Bigakko", an art school in Jimbocho, Tokyo. Ray created a stained glass-inspired portrait on one of the windows out of graphic tape and clear file folders.
TV ASAHI, ROPPONGI HILLS
A double live drawing performance battle between Ray and artist Shojonotomo at TV Asahi in Roppongi Hills in Roppongi, Tokyo. Ray and Tomo tied their right hands and left feet to each other so that every stroke made by one affected the other's drawing, and it became a battle for the ability to create marks.
